Book Institute’s Seminar for Foreign Publishers has begun [report and photos]
Today in Cracow, the eighth seminar for foreign publishers has begun. As part of the seminar, the Book Institute presents the most interesting phenomena on the Polish publishing market to editors and literary agents from all over the world. This time, it is attended by publishers from German-speaking countries, as well as Polish publishers and representatives of literary agencies.
The Director of the Book Institute, Dariusz Jaworski, opened the seminar and welcomed the guests. Agnieszka Urbanowska from the Foreign Department briefly presented the Institute and its programmes, focusing mainly on those dedicated to foreign publishers, but also bringing closer the flagship project of the Institute, the campaign "Small Book - Great Man".
After the presentation, Piotr Gociek, a journalist and critic, gave a short lecture on the latest Polish prose. Gociek presented the most interesting contemporary authors to German publishers. In his speech, he looked at the works of Wiesław Myśliwski, Wiesław Helak, Jacek Dukaj, Zyta Rudzka, Jakub Żulczyk, Jakub Małecki, Maciej Płaza, Elżbieta Cherezińska, Weronika Gogola, Anna Kańtoch, Radka Franczak, Łukasz Orbitowski, and Wojciech Chmielarz, to name a few.
The most interesting offerings from the non-fiction literature were presented after the break by the essayist and journalist Marta Kwaśnicka.
